Types of pensions

A type of pension arrangement whereby contributions into a pension are made directly from gross pay, i.e. before income tax is deducted. As opposed to relief at source schemes, tax relief is automatically received as taxable pay is reduced by the amount of the pension contribution, on which no tax is payable.

Net-pay schemes are the norm for workplace schemes.
